The Super Bowl is on Sunday, and naturally we'll be watching the game (and the commericals), but the real news around town is the up-and-down season the Rockets are having. They win with T-Mac, they win without T-mac, they definitely lose without Yao. If Rick Adelman can get everyone on the same page, they could still be formidable in the playoffs. Otherwise, we're looking at another five-and-out in the first round. On to the links: -......

Happy Monday from the Sports Doldrums! With the World Series over, the Texans being the Texans, and the Rockets not quite started, this has got to be the worst time of the sports year. But sports being what they are, people are still talking about them. Here's what the blog world has been saying about your hometown teams: - Sad, but unsurprising, end to the story of the life and death of Eddie Griffin.......

Like a scene from the movie 300, the Houston Texans players have been dropping like flies. Injuries are starting to take a toll on the Texans who couldn’t make it three in a row to start the season and no longer share first place in the division after losing 30 to 24 to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday. Jerome Mathis returned the opening kickoff 84 yards to start the game with the lead, but the Texans......

If you're anything like us, you're probably waist deep into fantasy football magazines, watching ESPN's "Sportscenter" five times a day to catch the latest NFL training camp updates, and surfing the Internet until the wee hours of the morning to find out how that starting running back's knee is holding up to the rigors of two-a-days. No, it's just us? Either way, the dawn of a new NFL season brings with it another year of......

Houstonist is reporting to you today live from Relaint Stadium for the 72nd annual NFL draft. With the 10th pick, the Houston Texans drafted Louisville defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, the youngest player ever drafted at 19-years old. Okoye was a unamimous 2006 All-Big East selection on defense while recording 49 tackles (12 for a loss) with six sacks. For his career at Louisville, Okoye registered 121 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks to boast. His......

The Houston Texans needed to do something to improve their offensive production. It's no secret that David Carr's tenure as Texans quarterback was growing short. Yesterday, the Texans inked a deal with Matt Schaub and ended speculation about the quarterback situation. Signing Schaub, second fiddle to The Vick in Atlanta, completed the trade terms and effectively placed Carr on the trading block. Texans GM, Rick Smith, left little doubt as to their intentions during the......

Thanks to Dennis Green and the Cardinal's debilitating loss on Monday, bloggers everywhere have the perfect slogan for their struggling sports team. After watching the 34-6 loss to Dallas, the Texans are indeed who we thought they were - an improved team under Gary Kubiak who can compete for a quarter or two, but will ultimately struggle to surpass mediocrity due to personnel woes. While we don't recommend firing coordinators a la the Ravens or......

Texans coach Gary Kubiak will soon have a familiar face pacing the sidelines when Broncos Assistant GM Rick Smith is introduced as new general manager. Smith has reportedly come to an agreement with owner Bob McNair over the weekend and a formal announcement is expected later today. Smith has spent the last ten years with Denver, serving the last six as director of pro personnel. Despite rumors that he will have less control than former......

Houstonist would be ecstatic if Dave Chappelle came back for another season on Comedy Central and did a Charlie Murphyesque parody of Charley Casserly. Perhaps it could be a True Houston Story about how the Texans came to picking Mario Williams, but we digress. Charley Casserly resigned his position of Texans General Manager yesterday, citing his wish to pursue a position with the NFL’s front office. In the face of rumors that Casserly had been......
