Welcome to yet another installation of Rock Talk! It's been too long, but we have to blame our day job for that transgression. In the meantime, Houstonist has a boatload and then some of music news for you all. Someone find us a bigger boat. more ›

This week Houstonist made the drive to catch up with energetic Eastside pop-punkers <InsertNameHere> at their practice space in Galena Park [yes, you read that right]. They're dropping a new album tomorrow at Bohemeo's, so we thought we'd get to know them a bit better. You can listen to the full audio here. more ›
Come one, come all! It's another week, and that means another batch of fresh blurbs for you. Learn about some more local music, and feel free to leave us your thoughts and suggestions in the comments. more ›
Houstonist was fortunate enough to be invited over to KTRU to listen in and snap a few photos whilst local glam-revivalists Roky Moon & Bolt played on the air. Afterwards we walked down to Valhalla, grabbed a few beers, and had a chat with the band. Many thanks to Ian Wells for having us over to the studio, and to the band for letting us share two of the songs from their set. The full interview can be listened to here, as well as the tracks Go Wake Up Avery and Monster Came Out Of The Woods from their KTRU set. more ›
It's that time of the week - when we crack open our vault of local music news and share our treasure with the people. Come on in and check out what we found this week. more ›
We had to take a personal leave of absence sabbatical last week, but we've still been trawling around the internet looking up bands. The emporium might have fewer offerings this week, but they're all worth your time. more ›
Aaaaaand, we're back! We had to take last week off due to some personal drama. Sorry about that folks. However, this edition of Rock Talk is packed to the rafters as a result. Enjoy! more ›
When Houstonist sat down with The Gold Sounds last week, we were pleasantly surprised to be given a copy of their new album, Seismic Love, to review. In the interest of full disclosure, we'd made no attempt to hide the fact that we were fans of the band from the first time we saw them, and Houstonist is pretty darn excited to finally see an official release from these Deer Park fellows. more ›
This week H-Town Rock sat down with The Gold Sounds at Bohemeo's over some beers and coffee. The full audio version of the interview can be listened to here, complete with plenty of Beatles songs in the background. more ›
We're back with even more bands that we've come across. The amount of music in this town is astounding - our current list of active bands/musicians is nearing the 350 mark and we know that it's far from comprehensive. In the interest of fairness to bands of which we were previously aware, we'll be adding one or two of them to this post each week. more ›
Houstonist got waylaid by car troubles this week [you would not believe how hard it is to find a pair of 15" 20-spoke alloy wheels for a '92 Volvo in this town], but we've been cribbing notes the whole time. Rock Talk might be a day late, but it is definitely not a bit short. Here's your weekly update on the Houston scene. more ›
We often speak of the immense amount of music that occurs in this town, and the depth of our local talent. Allow us to introduce our newest feature covering the local music scene, Ol' Houstonian's Samuel's Music Emporium. Come one, come all, and let us share with you some local music that we came across in the past week!
Note: This new feature is an attempt to expose local music of which we either weren't aware or hadn't listened to yet, accompanied by a few remarks about said artist. It is by no means an attempt at a comprehensive listing of local acts.

We mean that in a very loving way, trust us. The simple fact is that most Houston bands do not tour frequently, if at all. There is an overabundance of good music in this town [several of our favorite acts are playing this weekend, even], and we will do our best to avidly promote the local talent. While the internet is fairly amazing and absurd, the world is not going to discover just how great our music scene is if the bands in town don't hit the pavement and play some other cities and get people talking. more ›
Yikes! It's been far too long since we've updated you. Not terribly so, but we feel pretty bad about it. Our apologies for the delay, we've had an unusually busy schedule. We've added several new feeds to our queue, so we're receiving more news than ever to date. Just know that Houstonist has a few days of bonus coverage for you this week. more ›

The good doctor is in, so have a seat and let's chat. We know what you're thinking, "what happened this week in Houston music? What have I missed? I can't take it anymore!" The stress on your brow, the nervousness in your hands. Dr. H. Town Rock is here with some scene-specific Xanax for that concern of yours. more ›
This week H-Town Rock sat down with Airon Paul Dugas & The Religion to chat about the band, recording, Seattle, albinos, and Jacob Calle's 'fro. Afterwards we were lucky enough to be treated to arguably one of the best plates of migas we've ever had. Airon swore us to secrecy, however, lest we unintentionally spur a douche-ification of his favorite dining spot. You can listen to the full 24 minute interview [complete with Steven's million-dollar flashbulb idea] here. There is the occasional dirty word, so get some headphones if you're at work. more ›
Here at H-Town Rock we've been dreaming up an interview feature for a while, so we're proud to announce our new weekly feature: Get to Know a Houston Band. This week we sat down at Rudyard's with GTRS for a chat covering their everything from their album White Night White Night, their penchant for prank calls, and their impending move to Asheville, North Carolina. Yes, they're moving, but we wanted to catch them before they split. more ›
