Gold Digger Destination: Houston!

Houstonist is always excited to find out our city has been been recognized as a "top" destination for anything. Over the last few years we've been awarded with having one of the nations most visited museums (HMNS), boasting the 2nd most theather seats in the nation, and even one of the top places for relocating singles. With all of this recent attention on our metropolis, it's no surprise that the nation's socialites would soon be scouring our city, too. Where's there's smoke, there's fire, right?

Budding journalist (snicker) and relationship, uh, coach, Donna Splanger's literary gem How to Get a Rich Man: The Princess Formula offers helpful tips on how best to find that man of your dreams, um, blings. Among these tips, Spangler includes the following suggestion:

Always plan your vacation where rich men hang out. What better place to meet guys than in a casual environment where they are only concentrating on having fun? Palm Beach, the Hamptons, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago, Manhattan, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Scottsdale and Seattle.

Now, normally, we would be thrilled to be included on a list with the likes of Manhattan, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle, yet this isn't exactly the kinda of list we had in mind to expanding our urban identity. But hey, any publicity is good publicity!

Houstonist can't help but think this is all too reminiscent of a certain Houston plastic surgeon's Prince-seeking daughter. Lest we forget, she "flew coach for him!" Wonder if Ms. Spanlger would do the same?
