Still looking for the perfect gift for the person who has everything? Well, if that person happens to be a soccer lover and doesn't mind having a really cool present taken away from them, you're in luck: If you're willing to pay enough, you could have the Houston Dynamo's MLS Cup under your tree. No kidding.
The Dynamo is auctioning off Christmas with the big silver trophy to benefit Covenant House Texas, an organization that provides housing, outreach programs and community service to help keep young people off the streets. "This is a great way for fans to take part in our MLS Cup celebration," Dynamo President and General Manager Oliver Luck said. "Besides being another great example of our commitment to the community, it is the best Christmas gift any Dynamo fan can get." For a while, anyway — the winner will get the trophy Christmas Eve, and it'll be picked up Dec. 26.
If you want to try to win a day with the MLS Cup, bid online at the Dynamo website (you have to live within 40 miles of downtown to win). Bidding is slow so far: It started Saturday, and so far there's only been one bid of $500, the minimum amount. Bidding closes at 9 a.m. Friday.
