Former Radio Personality Matthews Violates Probation, Surrenders to Cops

jailtoilet.jpgJon Matthews, one of Houston's AM talk radio staples from the mid-eighties on to 2003, has volated his probation and surrendered to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department, reports the Chronicle. Conservative former Marine Matthews, who received a 7 year deferred-adjudication sentence 2 years ago when he pled guilty to exposing himself to an 11 year old girl, violated his probation, which required that he abstain from alcohol and from looking at "sexually obscene material".
Matthews turned himself in after a warrent was issued for his arrest. He tested positive for alcohol and had been dicussing sexual fantasies on the 'net, according to the Chronicle's story.

In 2004, the then-11 year old girl came to the Matthews home to play with the puppy, and Matthews answered to door in boxers. He sat down on the ground, exposing himself, and immediately excused himself to put on shorts. So far so good, but upon returning to the living room he then pulled down both the newly-put-on shorts and the underwear, and exposed himself to the girl (who was a neighbor). He then said "Whoops" and told her not to mention to anyone what he'd done. The fact that he told her not to tell was made much of in determining probable cause and led him to plead guilty to one charge of indecency with a child.

Matthews was known on the radio for his hard-line coservative stances.
